REGULAR DENTIST CHECKUP
Regular check ups are the basis of successful preventive care. Before your initial dental check you will be asked to complete a medical history and a pre treatment questionnaire. This will allow you to communicate to the dentist your specific dental needs and objectives. Your consultation with the dental surgeon will probably begin with a discussion regarding your current dental health and any problems or concerns. A full dental chart will then be recorded. This will include a record of the condition of your teeth and gums, the health of the soft tissues in your mouth. The function of your jaw joint will be checked along with the muscles and lymph glands.
If the dental surgeon feels that dental x-rays are required, these will be done using the practice's state of the art digital radiography system. This allows both you and the dental surgeon to view the x-ray images instantaneously so there is no waiting around for x-rays to be processed.
After this examination, the dental surgeon will discuss with you any treatment that is recommended to secure and maintain your oral health, and other treatment options which may be available to improve the function of your teeth or the appearance of your smile. You will be provided with a written treatment plan with all of the treatment choices listed for your consideration. A written estimate of treatment costs will be provided for any treatments needed. You are encouraged to ask questions and ensure you have enough information to make decisions that are right for you.
Every patient is an individual and your dentist will be able to offer advice on how frequently you should attend for check ups.
